This has been such an entertaining book. I originally saw it at my local Italian market and wondered if I could get it at the library. The library was a no go, but Amazon had a Kindle version so I bought it. It is so funny and I can't wait to make the recipes. My kitchen is under renovation, so that will have to wait, but the stories of her family are priceless and it is full of "real" recipes - ones you know someones grandmother would write down and you would have success. I'm looking forward to trying out each different recipe for "gravy."

What an interesting and clever topic to choose to write about ... Is it Gravy or Sauce!?
This controvary has been going on for generations within Italian families and with Non-Italians.

Lorraine Ranalli shares some fascinating and interesting History... Captivating the reader right from the start!!

You'll fall in Love with her, and if you're Italian you'll be proud. This book is definitely on my GIFT LIST...
for Birthday, Holiday, Mother's or Father's day or be it an Anniversary, Wedding or just an Off-the-Wall Gift of Love!

Love this book! Easy to read, fun guide to the Italian lifestyle of South Philly. I grew up there, over 50 yrs ago, but still remember several of the Italian phrases mentioned in the book. Nice to see the Italians treated with respect, and kudos to Ms Ranalli's love of her Italian culture. Food and family....doesn't get any better than that!

It is a fun book with many fun facts about Italians and their gravy. Although it talks about Philly and South Jersey much of it pertains to central and northern NJ too.

I am from Pitts. moved to Philly. I was born to say Sauce. Here it is gravy, to me gravy is brown, I been here for a long time and still can't get use to say gravy
to something that is red. Funny and great read.

Being from Philly and South Jersey, I could relate to the stories. And the way that she compared recipes is exactly how it was in the 1940's with all of my Italian relatives.
